History of China Merchants Group

創立于1872年的招商局，是中國近代第一家民族工商企業，也是洋務運動至今僅存的碩果。一個多世紀的發展過程中，招商局開創了中國民族航運業，并在中國近現代許多重大歷史關頭發揮了重要作用。
招商局是中國近代史上最早的民族航運企業。組建了中國第一支近代商船隊，開辟了中國商輪第一條近海商業航線、第一條長江商業航線，培養了中國第一批現代航海管理人才，成為中國近代民族航運業的開拓者，亦被視為近代中國航業的代表。
Established in 1872, China Merchants Group is the first modern national industry and commerce enterprise and is the only triumph of Westernization Movement. In the process of more than a century’s development, China Merchants Group inaugurated the Chinese national shipping industry and played an important part at a number of critical historical junctures of China. 
As the earliest national shipping enterprise in modern China, China Merchants Group organized the first modern shipping fleet of China, opened up the first commercial coastal route and the first commercial route over Yangtse River, trained the first group of modern Chinese shipping managers, and was praised as the trailblazer and representative of the modern Chinese national shipping industry.

Affiliated to China Merchants Group, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. was jointly established by Sinopec Group, Sinochem Group, COSCO Group and CNOOC Group on December 31, 2004. Boasting a registered capital of RMB 3,433 billion, the company takes the operation and management of ocean-going tankers, bulk carriers and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers as its main line of business, branching out to the main currencies of energy shipping.

Operating and managing the oldest, most experienced and largest domestic ocean-going tanker fleet, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., equipped with 15 large crude carriers with a total load of 2.70 million tons and 14 bulk carriers with a total load of 700,000 tons, is qualified as one of the largest domestic ocean-going energy shipping enterprises. The large and professional fleet is well structured with complementary ships, strong international competitiveness, and sustainable potential.

招商局能源運輸股份有限公司油輪船隊和散貨船隊分別由下屬全資海宏輪船（香港）有限公司、香港明華船務有限公司負責經營管理，LNG液化天然氣船隊則由招商局與中遠集團共同投資的中國液化天然氣運輸（控股）有限公司與BP石油公司合資擁有的中國液化天然氣船務（國際）有限公司負責經營管理。
The Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Limited and the Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd. wholly held by China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. are respectively entitled to operate and manage the Tanker Fleet and the Bulk Carrier Fleet of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd.. China Liquefied Natural Gas Shipping (Holding) Co., Ltd., jointly established by COSCO Group and the Group, and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited, jointly held by British Petroleum Company and the Group, are entitled to operate and manage the LNG Fleet.

招商局能源運輸股份有限公司現任董事長傅育寧博士，同時亦擔任著招商局集團有限公司董事總裁、招商局國際有限公司主席、中國國際海運集裝箱集團有限公司董事長、招商局中國基金有限公司主席、招商銀行董事會執委會主席、招商局蛇口工業區有限公司董事長、中國南山開發集團股份有限公司董事長、香港港口發展局董事等職務。傅育寧，1957年3月出生，英國布魯諾爾大學海洋工程學博士并在該校從事博士后研究工作，曾任深圳赤灣石油基地股份有限公司常務副總經理、赤灣港航股份有限公司董事長、中國南山開發集團股份有限公司總經理、香港友聯銀行有限公司主席、招商局集團有限公司副總裁等職務。
Dr. Fu Yuning, the present Board Chairman of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., is also the President of China Merchants Group, the Chairman of China Merchants Holdings (International) Co., Ltd., the Board Chairman of China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd., the Chairman of Chinese Merchants China Direct Investments Limited, the Chairman of the Executive Board Committee of China Merchants Bank and the Board Chairman of China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Co., Ltd., the Board Chairman of China Nanshan Development (Group) Incorporation, and the Board of Hong Kong Port Development Council. Born in March 1957, Fu was graduated as a Doctor of Ocean Engineering from Brunel University and engaged in postdoctoral research in the University. He has ever worked as the Executive Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Chiwan Petroleum Supply Base Co., Ltd., the Board of Shenzhen Chiwan Wharf Holdings Limited, the General Manager of China Nanshan Development (Group) Incorporation, the Chairman of Union Bank of Hong Kong Ltd., and Vice President of China Merchants Group Co., Ltd.

Affiliated to China Merchants Group, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., a listed company and the forerunner in operating VLCC in China, started running its energy shipping fleet since late 1980s. Possessing over ten years’ experience in operating and managing large crude carriers, the professional crude carrier management company held by Merchants Steamship is the first introducing VLCC to the Asia-Pacific region.

海宏輪船（香港）有限公司（簡稱海宏公司、AMCL）是招商局能源運輸股份有限公司旗下專業的油輪管理公司。目前管理一支由VLCC、SUEZMAX和AFRAMAX組成的世界中等規模油輪船隊。
Affiliated to China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Limited (hereafter referred to as AMCL) is a professional tanker management company. Currently, AMCL manages a medium-sized tanker fleet composed of VLCC, SUEZMAX and AFRAMAX.

海宏公司是享譽業內的全球油輪經營者，也是中國航運企業中第一家擁有管理超級油輪經驗的管理公司，其管理大型油輪的經驗可以追溯到1970年代。曾經管理過世界領先的大型油輪船隊，是將VLCC引入亞太地區的先驅者之一。
As a world well-known tanker operator, AMCL has been the first Chinese VLCC fleet manager since the 1970s. It has ever managed the leading VLCC fleet of the world and is one of forerunners introducing VLCC to the Asia-Pacific region.

Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd.

香港明華船務有限公司（簡稱明華公司、HKMW）于1980年1月在香港注冊成立，是招商局能源運輸股份有限公司旗下專業干散貨船隊管理公司。目前管理的干散貨船隊由12艘4.2萬至4.9萬載重噸的大靈便型船和2艘7.3萬載重噸的巴拿馬型船組成，所有船舶均為90年代日本建造的現代型船舶，具有船型整齊、設備先進、載重噸位大、吃水淺、船速快、油耗低等良好性能。其中12艘大靈便型船舶全部配備30至35噸克令吊和大容量抓斗，船舶自裝自卸能力強，適合各類港口，市場聲譽良好，深受租家歡迎。
Incorporated in Hong Kong in January 1980, Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd (short-named as HKMW) is a professional bulk carrier management company affiliated to China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. At present, HKMW manages 12 Handymax bulk carriers with a load from 42000 to 49000 tons and 2 Panamax bulk carriers with a load of 73000 tons. Built in Japan in the 1990s, all these carriers feature trim model, advanced equipment, big deadweight capacity, shallow draught, fast speed and low fuel consumption. All the Handymax bulk carriers0 are equipped with 30-ton to 35-ton cranes, huge grab buckets, so they have strong capability of self-loading and self-unloading and apply to various ports, enjoying a good reputation among lessees.

China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited 

中國液化天然氣運輸（控股）有限公司（簡稱CLNG）于2004年3月15日由China Merchants Group and COSCO共同投資（香港明華船務有限公司投資50%，大連遠洋運輸公司投資50%）在香港注冊成立。
China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited (hereafter referred to as CLNG) was jointly established by China Merchants Group and COSCO on March 15, 2004 (50% of which was respectively invested by HKMW and Dalian Ocean Shipping Company).

CLNG是集LNG運輸經營、投資、管理等綜合功能的國際化專業LNG運輸公司。目前投資的項目與BP、殼牌等國際知名石油公司和船公司等共同合作，并取得廣東進口液化天然氣運輸項目和福建進口液化天然氣運輸項目的經營權。
CLNG is a professional international LNG shipping company integrating shipping, investment, management, etc. At present, CLNG cooperates with British Petroleum Company and Royal Dutch Shell PLC in many projects. Besides, the Company has obtained the right to operate the import LNG shipping projects of Guangdong and Fujian.

目前，廣東進口項目一期工程和福建進口項目一期工程已分別投入運營。LNG運輸船“大鵬昊”和“大鵬月”LNG運輸船于2008年投入運營。CLNG作為招商局集團和中遠集團在LNG運輸投資和管理方面的專業公司，正在與中海油合作籌備上海、浙江和珠海進口項目運輸的投資和管理。
Up to now, the first phases of the Guangdong import project and the Fujian import project have been put into operation. The LNG carriers, Dapeng Sun and Dapeng Moon, are put into operation in 2008. As a professional LNG shipping investment and management company of China Merchants Group and COSCO Group, CLNG is cooperating with CNOOC for the shipping investment and management of the import projects of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Zhuhai.

近年來，招商局能源運輸股份有限公司先后在日本和國內連續訂造了多艘大型油輪、好望角型散貨船和大型LNG運輸船。隨著各類型新船陸續下水交付使用，招商局能源運輸股份有限公司的船隊結構將更加科學合理，船型優勢互補更加明顯，遠洋能源運輸的國際競爭力不斷加強。
2011年，招商局能源運輸股份有限公司油輪船隊、散貨船隊的總運力將翻一番，達到706萬載重噸，LNG船隊的總運力達到73.6萬立方米。
未來，我們將抓住一切機遇，努力擴大船隊規模，實現運力的持續增長，致力于發展成為更具國際競爭力的和諧能源運輸企業。
In recent years, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. has contracted to build many VLCCs, Capesize bulk carriers, and large LNG carriers in Japan and China. The delivery and putting into use of the above carriers will obviously present the company an optimal fleet structure, better complementary models and stronger international competitiveness.
In the year of 2011, the total shipping capability of the tanker and bulk carrier fleets of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. will be doubled to 7.03 million tons, and the total shipping capacity of the LNG fleet will be 736,000 cubic meters.
In the future, we will seize every opportunity to enlarge the fleet scale and to realize the sustainable growth of the shipping capability, sparing no effort to shape our company a harmonious energy shipping enterprise with international competitiveness.
